Sixteen-year-old Lena is trapped in a golden cage. 

She desperately wants to escape a life that is ruled by her strict stepfather. When the chance comes in the shape of a handsome young man, she takes it – with unintended consequences.

Instead of living the life of a normal teenager and trying things out like

the other girls at school, Lena is tyrannized by her stepfather’s rules

and prohibitions. He is wealthy, so she has everything she needs – except someone to talk to, someone who listens to her, someone who respects

her plans, and someone who shows her that she is loved.

Her stepfather considers everything that serves the career planned out for her to be good. Everything else is forbidden, especially spending time with boys.

 

But then she meets Kenneth, a cheerful, charming and adventurous drama student from northern Germany. When he invites her to accompany him to the island of Usedom, she knows that it is her one and only chance to finally break out of her golden cage.
